From 2013 responsibility for commissioning most healthcare will transfer to GP consortia (groups of GP Practices). East Federation represents 26 GP practices and 205,000 patients and is made-up of three consortia: • Brett Stour (SBS) eleven GP practices covering Central East Suffolk including Stowmarket and Hadleigh. • Deben Health (DHG) six GP practices covering Woodbridge and the  neighbouring area. • Commissioning Ideals Alliance (CIA) nine GP practices – Felixstowe and the north coastal area The East Federation’s philosophy is: • Best possible care for patients within the resources available. • Support traditional NHS values of free at the point of use, no selection of patients, same care for all groups and no time limit on care. In recent years, both organisations have commissioned various services, many of which have involved clinicians from our acute hospitals or community services.  East Suffolk Federation is a Wave 1 Pathfinder.
